Grouse Mountain

Located just 15 minutes from the downtown core of Vancouver, Grouse Mountain is the city’s favourite backyard playground.

Skiing above Vancouver

The resort’s winter activities include the finest in local skiing and snowboarding, with 26 runs situated in the pristine wilderness the Coastal Mountain Range. Floodlit runs open until 10pm nightly facilitate skiing and riding for everyone’s schedule. Additional activities include snowshoeing, ice-skating, sleigh-rides, and award-wining dining high above the city.

But spring and summer do not mark the end of Grouse Mountain’s engaging schedule of activities. You might be surprised to learn that the resort is Vancouver’s top four season attraction, showcasing the best of BC to over 1.1 million visitors per year. Panoramic views of the city, ocean and mountains unfold as the Skyride- North America’s largest aerial tram system- whisks visitors to the mountaintop.

Entertainment on Grouse Mountain

Some of our favorite activities for tourists and locals include the World Famous Lumberjack Show which is performed by real live lumberjacks / actors every afternoon during the summer / tourism season. The show runs about 45 minutes and includes lumberjack competitions filled with humour and surprises. Slightly edgy at times, yet suitable for the whole family. When escorting tourists on Grouse Mountain, guides often try to include the lumberjack show followed by the Birds in Motion Demonstration which takes place in the same area of the mountain top, a leisurely walk about 5 minutes from the Gondola station.

If you are not on a set timeline and want to take in the views from Grouse Mountain’s vantage points, you may want to consider taking the the Gondola ride up the mountain during the evening hours before dark, perhaps for a late dinner, so you will see the views by day and stay long enough to see the sunset and then the city lights after dark falls.

With so many sightseeing groups visiting Grouse Mountain, it would be helpful to give out group name tags so groups won’t lose each other. Visitors can feel safe that they will stay together while they are seeing the amazing sites.
