Vancouver is a holiday location to suit all. For friends seeking adventure and great partying, for couples needing a little romance or a perfect honeymoon, and for families just looking for a fun holiday packed with things to do, Vancouver doesn’t disappoint.

Vancouver is Canada’s third largest city and enjoys an enviable coastal location on a peninsula, surrounded by water on three sides that contribute much to the attraction of the city, as well as the base for many of its fun activities.

Living is good here, and so are holidays. It’s a place of skyscrapers, old world neighborhoods and wide open spaces. The famous Stanley Park which covers 1000 acres makes for an ideal afternoon stroll while the historical and somewhat bohemian part of Vancouver, Gastown, is a favorite among tourists and is where the world’s first steam-powered clock can be found. Vancouver’s thriving Asian culture can also be explored in the Chinatown, the largest Chinatown in Canada. As a city, there’s all the usual facilities of theaters, cinemas, shopping malls, bowling alleys and of course, a great range of cafes and restaurants. Food is delicious, using fresh local produce from the land and sea, accompanied by the excellent wines that are produced just beyond the city.

When it comes to things to see and do in Vancouver, there’s certainly no lack of. Renowned for its gorgeous sceneries, it’s a location with two very distinct seasons. In the summer, the main activities include sightseeing, touring vineyards, and enjoying a mass of activities on the water and amidst the stunning natural surroundings. Kayaking, swimming, sailing, hiking, cycling and riding, together with golf and tennis are all readily available.

Come winter, Vancouver and the surroundings become a winter playground, with the closest ski resort of Grouse Mountain and all the associated activities being within fifteen minutes of downtown. This area has some of the best winter sports locations in North America. Grouse Mountain alone has 26 ski and snowboard runs, snowshoe trails and outdoor ice skating. Around and about are resorts that were locations for the 2010 Winter Olympics, including Whistler.

Don’t discount spring and autumn though! As the winter ebbs, the beautiful parks become green and alive, and as summer wanes, the city’s green areas become a riot of autumn colors, to rival the scenes of New England.
