Second Beach at Stanley Park in Downtown Vancouver
Second Beach, on the south-eastern corner of Stanley Park, has several attractions. This side of the park is the sunniest and busiest, and has great views of English Bay.
The most noticeable feature is the pool. Recently built, it replaced an old draw-and-fill pool dating from the 1930’s. Whereas the water used to be drawn in from the ocean and warmed by the sun, now the pool operates on a closed system with fresh water. The pool features a large shallow section with slides for kids, along with a section for adults to swim lengths. There are always lifeguards on duty and there is a small charge for entry.
Opposite the pool is a concession stand with hot dogs and cold drinks, changing rooms and showers.
Along from the pool is a large grassy area. This is a popular stop the meet and chat, and on sunny days you will always see people having picnics. There is a popular children’s playground here with swings and slides.
