Englishman in Gastown Vancouver – Not Your Typical Interview

Aaron Naik, Englishman Steps Out of His Comfort Zone, Gastown Vancouver BC Canada.
Aaron Naik is not your typical Vancouver tourist. On his three week vacation from his job as a policy advisor in Liverpool England, he came to Vancouver on a personal growth mission to test the limits of his comfort zone experiencing new things while he explores “the best city in the world to live in” from street level. When we met up with him he had just dusted off his guitar talents after years of not playing and was enjoying performing as a busker, street musician, for the first time.
Aaron also investigated one of Canada’s poorest neighbourhoods, sometimes referred to as the “Notorious Vancouver Downtown East Side”, as an exercise to push the limits of his comfort zone. Clearly having preconceived ideas of what may happen to him walking through Canada’s poorest and most drug ladened neighborhood, we noticed Aarone had a local contact’s phone number written large on his fore arm.
So, how did he find the experience?
We asked Mr. Naik over a snack in Vancouver’s touristic, historic and picturesque Gastown, where Vancouver got it’s start, just a block or two from East Hastings in the Vancouver Lower East Side.

Listen to a short sample of Aaron playing guitar and singing in the video below before explaining his perceptions of being in these areas of Vancouver, his thoughts on Canadians, pushing one’s comfort zone and the message he delivered to Vancouver’s Mayor.
